Day #9

Journal #9
Today was definitely less stressful, but I was not happy since I had a lot of work to do since everyone gave me their stuff last night. I have been doing so much better with the program (InDesign) and have worked around most of the issues I've been having. Overall I've been doing so much better with my work graphically and have learned so much about the formatting and text of documents. This will absolutely help my work ethic in the future and gives me hope in my future career. I'm very determined in this internship and have been working hard, but been enjoying it. I'm excited to see how things span out once the program is all set and done. It has to be done by tomorrow since the show goes up in a week! (May 3)

Day #8

Journal #8
Today has been very stressful. Trying to work on the program when I have no names and am confused with the program I'm working with makes me think I have nothing to show by my due date. I've been trying to track people down and collect certain things that need to still be filled in that are missing.

Day #7

Journal #7
Today I continued to work on the program. I've been coming across some struggles because certain people haven't handed in the names of the people participating in the show, which I need in order to finish the program.
My deadline is supposed to be Wednesday night but since I've been having trouble with the software and issues with the text I won't get it done until Friday. Working in InDesign hasn't been bad so far, it's still tricky to figure out but since I know Photoshop and Illustrator it's not too bad.

Day #6

Journal #6
Today I came in at 10 till 2:30 and later came in from 6-9 to talk to people in Cabaret about the program I'm working on, and to finalize certain aspects of the program. Over break I also worked a few hours on editing the program. The show goes up in two weeks and there is still a lot to be done, and cast list is still being trimmed down. I have to be done with this program by Wednesday night for it to be printed by Friday, giving me Thursday to properly go over it with the directors and advisors.

Day #5

Journal #5
Today I am still working on the program. I have made even more edits. Now I have to get the Crew List of people working on Cabaret, and the Orchestra Pit as well. I'm having difficulty with the dates because dates were changed for Cabaret and certain people only perform certain nights. At least it will give me more time to do what I need to do for the program and get it done. I also have to write a timeline on when I will complete my task, which should not be a problem. The only last material needed are the adult contributors that are apart of Cabaret and the royalties needed for the format of the program (aka font text, and size).

Day #4

Journal# 4
Today I made a hard copy of the program that I'm working on. It was hard at first to make sure it printed correctly because it would print in the wrong order, and the booklet has to be in a specific order due to the format. I ended up getting help from my old graphic design teacher who helped me to get the print format down. I proofed it to make sure there were no errors, but of course came across a few. The easy part is editing and putting in the characters and additional cast members. Tomorrow I will further work on the program adding additional dates and crew members.

Day #3

Journal #3
Today the internet is down at the school, which makes me unable to work in school. Instead I'm helping my mom with work at home for her printing business. Not a lot of graphic design stuff, more manual labor. Stuffing envelopes, looking at invoices, watching the xerox machine, clearing jams, answering phone calls were all apart of my jobs for the day. I also helped my mom design a letterhead for a recent client which is always better than doing manual kind of work. I ended the day off by proofing a few things for her, and made a few deliveries.

Day #2

Journal #2
Today was the second day of internships. I still continue to work on the program for Cabaret. I'm learning a lot about my abilities of being a graphic designer. I've been teaching myself InDesign, an Adobe program, which is somewhat complicated, but easy when you get the hang of. This I'm very proud of, and am glad to know I will use this skill in future assignments. I've started creating the format for the cast list and have tried putting the characters in so far as how I know them. I'm now trying to edit it down and cut seniors of last year who've already graduated, since I'm using the Phantom of the Opera program format.

Day #1

Journal #1
Today was the first day of internships and I did not know what to expect. We had our kick off meeting in the PAC and from there I started working in the school. I started off going through the material Mrs.G gave me and came up with some ideas for the Cabaret logo. I went through the program to edit and make it more complete. I then started bringing my ideas to life by making various logos in several colors. I looked up some things from Cabaret for inspiration. So far I have a nice font picked out but need to do more with the background and complete my idea fully. Hopefully I'll do it the way I would like in time.
