Day #21

Journal #21

Today I have completed a basic "sketch" of what I think the directors can edit and choose what they like and don't like (critique) Here are the PDF's of what I've been working on.

Day #20

Journal #20
I went to pick up my sister at college, but from 9-3 I worked on more graphic design stuff for the posters. There's a good amount I have to finish, but I have the basic ideas for the poster layouts. I will continue to edit the posters and help out with them when my internship ends, because there is simply not enough time for me to complete it all. I'm at a VERY good place though so I am happy!

Day #19

Journal #19
Today I worked more on the posters. Unfortunately the Mid Summer Nights Dream poster isn't one I can actually use yet. I emailed the director for Mid Summer and she gave me a few concepts to work with, but they weren't accurate/didn't give me ideas to explore more into. She has to talk to Mr.Towers on what her concept will be, but I only have till May 18th to finish these. Hopefully I'll be able to get it all done by then.

Day #18

Journal #18
Today I started to work on the other posters that are due, the Godspell poster and the RENT School Edition Poster. It's been going well, I'm just glad to work with programs that I am very familiar with, which makes it easier for me to use, making the job faster for me. Right now I've just been throwing around ideas and picking out cool fonts that would look right with the shows. For the rest of the two weeks of internship this is what I will be doing.

Day #17

this is what I've worked on for the day. It took a long time. Not completely done editing it but have to get started on the other posters and tickets for the other shows.

Day # 16

Journal #16
Today I stayed home and helped my mom with work. I continued to help her with my uncle's business card and edited the picture. We were having a few problems with the picture we were trying to import, which was annoying and we couldn't figure out how to fix it. My mom just ended up printing the card without the picture so it looked better for clients. There was a ugly highlighter yellow for the font which didn't look right with all the other greys, and browns. We put the yellow at a undertone so it wasn't so bright. My mom tomorrow is going to CA and there will give him them. Hopefully he will like them!

Day #15

Journal #15
Today I worked with my mom. I started designing the Godspell poster for SSPA, but am making deliveries and  doing folding and printing work. We have to fold 3,000 pamphlets for Society of St. James, which isn't too bad just a lot of back and fourth between the folding machine. I have to make a few deliveries: I have to go to Billerica once the 3,000 pamphlets are done and deliver them, then I have to drop a package off at UPS, and then have to do mailing for out of town clients, one which includes London, but just need to go to the Post Office for that. After the deliveries are done I have to start re-doing a business card (redesigning it and re-doing the format) Hopefully I can get it all done!

Day #14

Journal #14
Today I stayed home to print all of the 2,000 programs. We were having a few printing issues which was our set back. The machine's duplex was messed up and the printer would only print 10 and then have a printing jam. We tried fixing it but it kept jamming. My mom put the print layout in a new format which made it easier to print the rest of the 1800 programs. Also a student's name was left out of the program of the 200 we had already printed, which is a big oops, but we managed to fix it and she's in the other 1800 programs. Last night was opening night and there were only about 250 people that showed up. Hopefully over the next few nights we'll have 400+.

Day #13

Journal #13
Today I have finally finished the program!! We are officially ready to start our 2,000 print process. It's been a long, tiring experience but I'm soo happy it's finally done with. The finishing touches were made which are easy to fix and edit. The program looks perfect and I hope everyone enjoys the final product which I have worked very hard on. I never thought an 8 page program would take up to three weeks of work! I've learned a lot throughout the process and am glad it has finally paid off.

Day #12

Journal #12
Today has been one of the most stressful days in awhile. Tomorrow is supposed to be the day to print but at this point I don't think we can print till Thursday. People's edits won't get to me till tomorrow morning, and it's a little aggravating because I've asked for them to be done a week ago. Since there are so many people to get information from and certain edits, I've learned you need to be patient, but should also be stern on deadlines. I've come so far from the starting point. I'm proud that I've taught myself a good amount of the program.

Day #11

Journal #11
By now I'm supposed to have all the final pieces but I'm waiting on edits that are being made by the director and the stage manager. These edits have been holding up the printing process but are crucial cause the program can't have any mistakes or errors. Hopefully if all goes well we will be printing Wednesday which gives us a day to print 2,000 before the show the next day. The only issue I'm dealing with at this point is when I will be getting all the final edits in, cause it is frustrating to have to hurry up and wait, but that's all apart of the job.

Day #10

Journal #10
I should be getting the final names added to the program by tonight. It's been very stressful putting the program together because my deadlines had to be extended by a week and people don't always follow through with certain deadlines. I've figured out more of how to work with InDesign and has become easier for me to use. Because I'm teaching the material to myself it gets frustrating not knowing where certain tools are or how certain things work, but each day I'm learning more and more and expanding my horizons. By the end of today it feels good to know that I will have the program 95% done.
